This morning the kids came to dad's aide in a very cute way. I had made them breakfast, they all were eating at the table while i was unloading dishes. I bent down to put some away in a low drawer then stood up quickly hitting the back of my head on an open corner of a cabinet door above. It was (and still is) so painful that I dropped to the ground waiting and hoping for the pain to pass. The kids didn't see it, but sprang into action about 15 seconds later, when they noticed me writhing on the floor.
Zack came over and gently put his arm on me and asked if i was ok and what happened. The girls came over too. Zadie suggested that she get me ice and she and Zack debated which ice pack to get out of the freezer and then brought both. Zadie suggested that she get me a blanket to put on me, and then Zoe ran back with her blankie. Zadie then got hers and put it on me too.
At this point it was getting cute, so I decided to remain on the floor. The pain was bad but the ice was helping.
Zack stayed by me and suggested he go find a third blanket to cover my feet, I said that it wasn't necessary, but thanks. Then, Zoe brought in a music box they had been playing with earlier in the week, and Zack and Zadie brought in a second one and wound it up. Zadie said the music would make me feel better. Then Zoe brought in a large pillow from the living room and Zack asked me to lift my head and put it under my head. THEN, Zadie saw me move a bit and crouched down next to me put her hand on me to stop me and said "Just stay down and rest, OK?".
HA!!! I was cracking up, on the floor, listening to a 3.5 year old tell me what to do while two music boxes battled it out for musical caring supremacy.
It's funny to see how they behave. Zack even asked if he should go wake up mommy and tell her. I said no, but that's a good idea especially if something happens to me and I'm not able to talk. Zoe was the fetcher, Zack was triage, and Zadie was the caring bedside manner role. So cute (and painful!)
