Kid phone conversation
Zack is visiting grandparents in Colorado, and his sisters missed him so we arranged a phone call so they could talk. Here's how it went, completely unscripted:
Zack: "Hello?"
Zadie: "Hi Zack, I miss you"
Zack: "Haaaaah"
Zoe: "Hi Zack, I miss you and I love you"
Zack: "Ahhh"
Zadie: "I miss you and I love you"
Zack: "Ummmm"
(pause)
Zack: "Uhhhh"
Me: "Zack, do you want to say hi to your sisters?"
Zack: "Errrrrr"
Zadie: "Zack, SAY SOMETHING NICE TO US!!!"
hee hee.

Zoe's threat
Last week Zoe and Zadie and I were walking to go pick up Zack. Zoe was upset with noises Zadie was making and eventually collapsed on the ground. Zadie and I kept walking, not giving in to Zoe's drama. Zoe was furious and didn't want us to walk away like that, so she stood up, grabbed her magic wand she had been carrying, pointed it as us and yelled angrily: "STOP WALKING AWAY OR I WILL TURN YOU INTO A RAINBOW!!!" She was dead serious with the threat, but we couldn't stop laughing....

New bikes for the girls
Last week, one of the girl's trikes cracked and the other one was too rusty to work well, so it was time for an upgrade, and they sure move fast now!
Pics from a great weekend

The girls get their ballet outfits for their recital in a few weeks

All three kids paint piggy jars at a birthday party. Guess which kid painted which pig. And guess which kid seems to be a UCLA fan...

Zack puts the finishing touches on his crowing achievement for the weekend. The LEGO police station!

Zoe's hockey lament
Zoe said to me: I'm sad that Zach Parise didn't won.
She was referring to the star player on the USA hockey team, who she was soooo excited to hear about because his name is the same as her brother's. So we were all cheering for Zach and team USA.

Masterminds
Zack has been enjoying playing Mastermind Jr., a simpler version of the mind game. The girls have been playing an easier version where all you have to do is guess the right colors only. The harder way that Zack has been playing is to guess the right colors and the right positions. Well last night, Zoe after watching Zack and I play wanted to play that way too. And she got it! she gave clues correctly when choosing the code, and was smart enough to modify her guesses locially when guessing! Zoe had more interest in playing the game repeatedly too. Zadie was busy building a dog-catching net.

Zack the Lego Maniac
Zack is putting together some legos this morning and was overheard to say:
"I'm getting tired and exhausted from doing all these legos. I think I need to burp. (Belch). Ok, I'm better"

Caring Kids
This morning the kids came to dad's aide in a very cute way. I had made them breakfast, they all were eating at the table while i was unloading dishes. I bent down to put some away in a low drawer then stood up quickly hitting the back of my head on an open corner of a cabinet door above. It was (and still is) so painful that I dropped to the ground waiting and hoping for the pain to pass. The kids didn't see it, but sprang into action about 15 seconds later, when they noticed me writhing on the floor.
Zack came over and gently put his arm on me and asked if i was ok and what happened. The girls came over too. Zadie suggested that she get me ice and she and Zack debated which ice pack to get out of the freezer and then brought both. Zadie suggested that she get me a blanket to put on me, and then Zoe ran back with her blankie. Zadie then got hers and put it on me too.
At this point it was getting cute, so I decided to remain on the floor. The pain was bad but the ice was helping.
Zack stayed by me and suggested he go find a third blanket to cover my feet, I said that it wasn't necessary, but thanks. Then, Zoe brought in a music box they had been playing with earlier in the week, and Zack and Zadie brought in a second one and wound it up. Zadie said the music would make me feel better. Then Zoe brought in a large pillow from the living room and Zack asked me to lift my head and put it under my head. THEN, Zadie saw me move a bit and crouched down next to me put her hand on me to stop me and said "Just stay down and rest, OK?".
HA!!! I was cracking up, on the floor, listening to a 3.5 year old tell me what to do while two music boxes battled it out for musical caring supremacy.
It's funny to see how they behave. Zack even asked if he should go wake up mommy and tell her. I said no, but that's a good idea especially if something happens to me and I'm not able to talk. Zoe was the fetcher, Zack was triage, and Zadie was the caring bedside manner role. So cute (and painful!)
